Why homeowners pick us

Most contractors lose you long before the first nail.

Nobody in Queens has trouble finding a contractor. They have trouble finding one who answers the phone in week three. Four things we put in writing on every job.

Same-day callback

Call before 4pm on a weekday and you hear back that day — during the job, not just before you sign. If we ever miss it, your next change order is free.

One named foreman

You get a person and their cell number on day one. Same face on site every morning until the job is finished. No rotating subs you have never met.

Fixed-price contract

The number we write down is the number you pay. Any change is priced and signed before a tool comes out of the truck. No “we found something” invoices.

Daily photo updates

A text with photos at the end of every workday, plus what happens tomorrow. Travel for work and you will still know exactly where your house stands.

How it usually goes

The contractor experience you have already had

  • Three no-shows before you even get a number
  • A one-page estimate with “allowances” doing the heavy lifting
  • Crew vanishes for nine days to start another job
  • The bill lands 22% over the number you agreed to
  • Punch list never gets finished, calls stop being answered
Working with Ironwood

What we put in the contract instead

  • A scheduled visit within 48 hours, confirmed by text
  • Line-by-line fixed pricing with your exact fixtures named
  • One crew, one job — we do not split the team
  • A firm completion date written into the agreement
  • Five-year workmanship warranty, transferable if you sell
What we build

Five things, done properly.

We are not a whole-house-anything outfit. We stay in our lane so our crews are genuinely fast at the work you are hiring us for.

    How it runs

Five steps. No mystery in the middle.

You will know what happens next at every point, because we tell you before it happens rather than after.

    1. Within 48 hrs

      In-home visit

We measure, photograph, and listen. About 45 minutes. You get an honest read on scope and a realistic range before anyone talks money.

    2. 3–5 days later

      Fixed-price proposal

Line by line, with your actual fixtures named and priced. Licence, insurance certificate and warranty terms attached. Valid 30 days.

    3. 2–3 weeks

      Selections & permits

We walk showrooms with you, lock materials, and file with DOB or your Nassau building department. Nothing gets ordered until you sign off.

    4. The build

      One crew, start to finish

Same foreman every day. Dust barriers up, site swept every evening, photos texted at 5pm. We do not disappear to another job.

    5. Final day

      Walkthrough & warranty

We walk it together, write the punch list, and finish it inside a week. Then you get the warranty certificate and every manual registered in your name.

What people say once the trucks are gone.

We had two contractors ghost us before Ironwood. The difference was almost funny — a text every single evening with photos, and the final invoice matched the proposal to the dollar. That never happens.

Dormer plus a full second bath. They handled the DOB filing, which I had been dreading for two years. Nineteen weeks quoted, finished in eighteen. Neighbours have already hired them twice.

Basement had taken water twice. They found the grading issue outside before framing anything — could easily have just built over it and taken my money. Two winters later, bone dry.

    Where we work

Two counties. Nothing beyond a 40-minute drive.

Staying tight is deliberate. It is the only way a foreman can be on your site every morning at seven and still swing back at the end of the day.

    Straight answers

    Questions we get every week.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Queens?

Most full kitchen remodels we complete in Queens and Nassau land between $34,000 and $78,000, driven mainly by square footage, cabinet line, and whether plumbing or electrical is being relocated. A cosmetic refresh — counters, backsplash, paint, hardware — usually runs $12,000 to $19,000. You get a fixed written price before anyone starts.

Are you licensed and insured in New York?

Yes. NYC DCA Home Improvement Contractor licence #2034512-DCA and Nassau County licence #H18A7290000. We carry $2,000,000 general liability and full workers' compensation. Both certificates are attached to every proposal before you sign anything — you should never take a contractor's word for this, ours included.

    Do you charge for estimates?

No. The in-home visit and the written fixed-price proposal are free with no obligation. The only thing we charge for is full architectural drawings, and only if you ask us to produce them for a permit application — that is quoted separately and credited back if you build with us.

How long will my bathroom be out of service?

A standard hall bathroom is 12 to 18 working days on site. A primary suite with a custom shower pan and niche typically runs three to five weeks. Your date goes into the contract. If we run past it for reasons that are ours, we credit you — that clause is in the agreement, not just on this page.

    Will you pull the permits?

Yes, and you want us to. We file with NYC DOB or the relevant Nassau building department, schedule and attend inspections, and hand you the signed-off paperwork at closeout. Permit fees are itemised at cost and never marked up. Unpermitted work is the single most expensive thing you can discover when you go to sell.

    What warranty do you offer?

Five years on all workmanship, in writing, and transferable to the next owner if you sell the house. Manufacturer warranties on materials pass straight through to you and we register them in your name so you are not hunting for receipts in year four.

    Next step

Tell us what you are thinking about. We will tell you what it really costs.

Four quick questions, then someone from the office calls you back the same business day to book the visit. No sales sequence, no drip emails.
